UAB Hands Women's Tennis 6-1 Loss

The women's tennis team managed one singles win and one doubles win Sunday in a 6-1 afternoon loss to UAB.
The Lady Mocs, who defeated
UAB, who remained unbeaten at 4-0, won the first and third doubles matches to claim the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Ballard teamed with freshman Grace Robinette at the second doubles spot to defeat Esen and Giorgia Romeo, 8-6.
The Blazers took the remaining five singles matches in straight sets to secure the victory.
Evelien Strijker defeated junior Beata Knizat at No. 2, 6-2, 6-0, and Antonia Nugent was a 7-5, 6-1 winner over senior Bonnie Adams at No. 3.
The Lady Mocs, 4-3, open Southern Conference play next Saturday at noon at Davidson.
