
Mocs Lose 86-77 to Charleston on Senior Night

In his final home game, senior Kevin Goffney shined with a career-high 26 points. Goffney was solid from behind the three-point line, sinking a season-high four in six attempts behind the arc.
Three other UTC seniors finished in double-digits as Stephen McDowell scored 15, while Nicchaeus Doaks and Khalil Hartwell each had 12 apiece.
The story of the game was the battle inside and it was won by CofC (21-7/13-5 SoCon). The Cougars scored 20 second chance points on 14 offensive boards while holding a 35-32 advantage on the glass.
The game was a story of two halves for both squads as UTC controlled a majority of the opening period leading by as many as 11, 36-25, on a Ty Patterson three-pointer with 3:56 to play in the first half. The Cougars stormed back with a 13-3 run to cut the Mocs halftime lead to one, 39-38.
At the beginning of the second half, an Andrew Goudelock three-pointer at the 19:18 mark put the Cougars up 41-39. That was CofC's first lead since the 6:34 mark in the first half and gave the Cougars the lead for good.
Despite trailing from the outset of the period, the Mocs were able to cut the Cougar lead to two, 66-64 with 8:39 left to play. However a 15-4
Goudelock led the Cougars with 21 points on the evening. Donavan Monroe came off the bench to score 18, while Antwaine Wiggins added 16 points and five rebounds.
