CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's indoor track and field teams return to the track Saturday for the Middle Tennessee Invitational in Murfreesboro at the Murphy Center.
Jacob Noorbergen, who ran his first-ever indoor meet last month at ETSU, will compete in the 55 and 200 meter dashes for the Mocs.
“We're hoping for big things from him,” UTC head coach Bill Gautier said.
Sophomore Paul Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) will lead the men in the Mile while junior Geoff Nelson (Brentwood, Tenn.) will run the men's 200 meter. Junior Trevor Janssen (Jordan Station, Ontario), despite some nagging injuries will compete in the men's 800 meter run.
Seniors Amanda Cotter (Bristol, Conn.) and Rebecca Greenwall (Bogart, Ga.) will lead the women on the track. Cotter will compete in the Mile for the women while Greenwall will pace UTC in the 800 meter run.
Also running the 800m will be Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.) running her first season of indoor track, along with sophomore Jessica York (Normandy, Tenn.).
“This will be a good warmup for next weekend's meet at Samford,”Gautier said. “Samford will be a good place for us to get runners better seeding for conference.”
The Southern Conference Championships will be held in Birmingham at the end of the month.
Missing out for the Mocs this weekend is junior Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) who is still recovering from an injury sustained during the cross country season.
