
Track to Compete at Auburn Tiger Track Classic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's outdoor track teams will hit the road this weekend for the Auburn Tiger Track Classic this Saturday at the Hutsell-Rosen Track.
“This weekend's meet will be very tough,” Chattanooga head coach Bill Gautier said.
In the women's races, sophomore Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) and junior Keeley Stewart (Winchester, Tenn.) will run the 3000 meter Open event and freshman Emily Drouin (Verona, Ontario), who ran the 2000m Steeplechase in high school, will make her first attempt at the 3000m SC this weekend.
The women's 800 meter run will feature Henderson, Stewart and sophomore Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.). Senior Amanda Cotter (Bristol, Conn.) and sophomore Jessica York (Normandy, Tenn.) will run in the women's 1500 meter.
In the men's meet, sophomore Paul Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) will run the 3000 meter and senior John Gilpin (Nashville, Tenn.) will compete in the 3000 meter Steeplechase.
Junior Trevor Janssen (Jordan Station, Ontario) will run the 1500 meter while juniors Austin Casassa (Nashville, Tenn.) and Marquis Carter (Memphis, Tenn.) will compete in the 800 meter.
Freshman Drake Watson (Gallatin, Tenn.) will run the 400 meter Hurdles for the men while juniors DeQuantez Sandifer (Nashville, Tenn.), Tosin Ayotunde (Ooltewah, Tenn.) and Geoff Nelson (Brentwood, Tenn.) will take part in the 400 meter dash.
“This will be a good meet to help us prepare for the conference meet later this year,” Gautier said.
The Tiger Track Classic is a two-day event with the Mocs taking in Saturday's events. Results will be available at GoMocs.com.
