CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team is set to travel to Orlando, Fla., to participate in the Citrus Classic II (Diamond 9) Invitational held at the ESPN World Wide of Sports Complex at Disney. UTC will face two ACC opponents in Boston College and Notre Dame, and will meet Bryant, Florida International and Charlotte to round out the five-game slate.
The Mocs are currently 5-9 on the season after completing the Frost Classic last weekend with a 2-3 record. Chattanooga kicks off the weekend on Friday with a doubleheader against Bryant and Florida International at 1:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., respectively. Saturday's schedule features Boston College at 2:45 p.m. and Charlotte at 5 p.m. The Mocs will conclude the weekend on Sunday with a single game against Notre Dame at 10 a.m. Previews of those matchups can be found below.

Chattanooga Softball Team Notes | Full Diamond 9 Notes
- Chattanooga finished last weekend with a 2-3 record in the Frost Classic ... notched wins over Northwestern State (5-3) and UT Martin (6-3)
- In the two wins over the weekend UTC combined for 19 hits, 11 runs, 28 bases and three HRs ... drew eight walks while striking out only five times in 52 at-bats.
- The Mocs as a team rank second in the SoCon in three major offensive categories including batting average (.279), slugging percentage (.429) and on-base percentage (.366)

Ashley Conner ranks in the top-five of the SoCon in multiple categories ... leads with 34 total bases ... ranks second in batting average (.463), slugging % (.829) and HRs (4) ... fourth in hits (19), on-base % (.531) and RBIs (12) ... currently on five-game hit streak.

Aly Walker is hitting .350 (14-for-40) with three doubles and eight RBIs this season ... ranks third in the SoCon with ten walks ... ranks tenth in batting average, on-base % (.480) and doubles (3) ... four multi-hit game so far this season.

Alex Connell is currently tied for the NCAA DI lead in saves (3) ... tied with four others ... has thrown 25.2 innings this season in ten appearances, four starts ... carries a 1-2 record.
Bryant Matchup (1:15 p.m. Friday)
The Mocs will meet Bryant in the opening game this weekend as it will be UTC's second NEC opponent this season (FDU). The Bulldogs (1-4) were idle last weekend as they competed in the ECU Pirate Clash the weekend before in Greenville, N.C. They dropped both doubleheaders against Fordham and ECU while defeating Cleveland State in between.
Florida International Matchup (5:45 p.m. Friday)
Chattanooga will face Florida International in the second-leg of Friday's doubleheader. The Panthers (11-5), a member of Conference USA, have competed in three tournaments this season and have notched wins over Georgetown (3x), Memphis (2x), Maryland, Florida A&M (2x), Rutgers, Boston College and FGCU while dropping games to #1 Florida, Memphis, Wisconsin, Northwestern State and Hofstra.
Boston College Matchup (2:45 p.m. Saturday)
The Eagles of Boston College, of the ACC, will be the first 'Power 5' school the Mocs will face this season and the first of two on the weekend (ND). Boston College (8-7) has fell in their last four games but have picked up wins over Houston, Wright State, UC Santa Barbara, Abilene Christian, NDSU, Ball State, #20 Arizona State and Wisconsin. They dropped games to Houston, Drake, #6 Arizona, FGCU, Rutgers, FIU and Hofstra.
Charlotte Matchup (5:00 p.m. Saturday)
The 49ers will be the second C-USA opponentfor Chattanooga in Orlando (FIU). Charlotte (13-4) has won four in-a-row and is a perfect 10-0 at their home field this season. They defeated NC State on Wednesday and have also defeated Longwood, Gardner-Webb (2x), Bowling Green (2x), St. Bonaventure, Canasius (2x), Robert Morris (2x), Fairfield and La Salle. Their only losses are to Presbyterian, Ohio, South Carolina and La Salle.
(RV) Notre Dame Matchup (10:00 a.m. Sunday)
Notre Dame will be Chattanooga's second ACC opponent of the Citrus Classic as it will be their final game on Sunday before heading home. The Fighting Irish (6-8) received nine votes in the most recent Top-25 Coaches Poll and has played seven different ranked teams already this season. They have defeated then #11 Michigan, #12 Georgia and #4 Oklahoma in addition to Weber State, SDSU and South Dakota. They have dropped games to LBSU, #8 UCLA, #11 Michigan, #13 Minnesota (2x), #RV Texas, #20 Missouri and #21 Arizona State.
