In July of 2019, the Mocs Club announced an incentive based C Club campaign that aims to engage a larger network of former varsity letterwinners. Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics, Mark Wharton is challenging letterwinners to step up and get involved.
The sport that has the most active C Club members by percentage of active alumni at the end of the fiscal year will receive an additional $5,000 to their annual budget from the athletic director discretionary fund, established to assess the most critical needs of the department.
Last year, roughly 200 former letterwinners decided to pay it forward through their membership to the C Club. This number is less than 10% of the living letterwinner database.
Wharton stressed the importance of an active and engaged letterwinner society. "Our former student-athletes paved the way for our current Mocs through their commitments to excellence, both athletically and academically, during their times on campus. As a department we need to make sure they are able to stay connected and engaged. I am hopeful that this new campaign will get our letterwinners excited about the opportunity of giving back to their respective programs."
"We're excited about the membership challenge!," stated head football coach Rusty Wright. "Any time you can give former athletes a chance to compete, it goes a long way. If we can tie that competition with giving back to UTC, I think that's huge. Our former football players have been tremendous since I've been back and I trust they'll do me proud in the C Club challenge."
The C Club aims to provide opportunities for letterwinners to remain connected and engaged with Chattanooga Athletics, while also providing a way for them to support the sports that they competed in during their time at the university.
Letterwinners have a choice between a standard annual membership ($100) and a varsity annual membership ($1,000) which grants you pre-game field access to one home football game determined by the Mocs Club staff each year. A full list of annual membership benefits can be found below.
