Mocs Fall to Wofford 5-2

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 Southern Conference match at Wofford today. The Mocs fall to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Terriers improved to 9-4 and 2-1 in SoCon action.
UTC took the opening doubles point, starting with freshmen Callie Billman and Wilma Bergqvist's 6-2 win at No. 3. Junior Bogdana Zaporozhets and freshman Jessie Young's clinched the point with a 6-2 win at No. 2. Zaporozhets and Young moved to 7-4 at No. 2 in the spring, while Bargqvist and Billman improved to 6-3 at No. 3.
The Mocs could not keep the momentum going in singles play, dropping five of the six matches. Sophomore Polina Goloputova had the lone win. She defeated Liz Massie (6-3, 6-4) to improve to 6-4 at No. 3 in the spring.
Up next for the Mocs is a SoCon match against Furman on Thursday, April 1, at the UTC Tennis Center.
