Where Are They Now? Presented by Avenger Logistics

In this installment of Where Are They Now presented by Avenger Logistics, we make the short trip back in time. Normally, we try to go a little deeper into the "way back machine" to catch up with former student-athletes, but this is not a normal time nor a normal student-athlete.

Nope, this is MARCH MADNESS. We caught up with Mr. March himself. The man who put the madness in March 2022 not only in Chattanooga, but all across the country. Yep, none other than David Jean-Baptiste.

DJB is playing professionally in Slovenia this season. He went from the Scenic City to a scenic country in his own words.

"My first impression was the scenic view I saw right off of my flight," Jean-Baptiste shared about his first impression of his new home. "It was very similar to how Chattanooga caught my attention right away. It has been much colder than I thought it'd be. I did not at all expect for it to snow as much as it did. I think we had a streak of five straight days at one point."

He's enjoying a successful start to his pro career to the surprise of no one. It's quite the life too for the Miami native learning his first things about what's known as a gem in Europe for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes. On the flip side, Mr. March was already known to his new teammates.

"It's funny," he continued. "All of my teammates knew about the shot. It didn't take them long to say something."

So enough with our words, let's hear what DJB Has to say…

Before you signed to play there, had you ever heard of Slovenia?
I had heard of Yugoslavia (which Slovenia was a part of before official independence in 1992), but not Slovenia individually.

How is professional basketball life? How has the adjustment been?
Professional basketball is simple yet crucial. Learning to have a simple routine yet crucial to the mental and physical health is key to being a professional. I was really blessed with the coaching staff and administration at Chattanooga that did their best to make sure things were run in a professional manner making the adjustment that much easier (to pro career).

Our friends in Greenville, SC want to know...have you hit any buzzer-beaters as a pro?
Haha, just at the end of quarters, not at the end of a game. Yet.

What are your memories of last year's tournament championship & trip to NCAA Tournament?
Now that's a tough question to answer. Every moment during that run was surreal and dreamlike. I know those are some of the best moments of my life, but being so much in the moment, it's hard to describe and choose one that just stands out. They all truly did.

Finally, we know from social media you kept an eye out on your Mocs this year, what did you think of the team & how proud are you of the run they made back to the title game?
Hats off to Coach Earl and the new staff. Despite coming in from a previous school in the conference, the way they carried themselves this season was true Blue & Gold spirit that I loved to see. I couldn't catch a lot of games because of IP issues, but other than that, I relied on Corey (Belonzi) with the Twitter updates. I did get to watch Senior Night live via FaceTime thanks to a friend which was fun. Despite it being late nights, I couldn't help but to stay up and stay updated with my Mocs.
