Breakdown

The dual at 125 was one of the two most anticipated matchups on the day. Clarion transfer Travis Clawson and senior Ty Tice squared off to get the night started. Clawson got takedowns in the first and second periods, while Tice reversed the second of those takedowns. Clawson fended off Tice through the third for the 9-2 decision.
149 was the other spotlight match with seniors Hunter Mason and Cody Chittum meeting in the middle. Mason was the starter a year ago at 141, while Chittum is a 2-time NCAA qualifier at 157. Chittum got the major decision with a slick first period maneuver earning seven points via takedown & near fall points. Even in the major decision, he had just 23 seconds of riding time.
Pennington got the first takedown against Uhorchuk at 141 but got a knock during a mat return. He stayed in, but Uhorchuk took over from there including an 11-point third period in a 19-6 major decision.
174 was a shootout with Charlie Foster getting the 4-3 win. He trailed 1-0 after a third period escape to open the period for Tre McTorry. He quickly earned a takedown for the 3-1 advantage. McTorry worked a reverse to know the score before Foster's escape ended the scoring.
Senior 285 Ethan Vergara was not available due to his spot on the Puerto Rico National Team. He went 1-1 in the World U23 this weekend in Las Vegas, Nev.
