Men’s Golf’s Final Round Charge Led by Rogers’ Win
10/6/2026 6:38:00 PM | Men's Golf
Evan Rogers blitzed the field winning for the second time this season pictured here with Coach Blaine Woodruff and assistant Ryan Hogan at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team climbed to a third-place finish Tuesday at the Trinity Forest Invitational. The Mocs shot 20 under, 268, the low tally of the tournament on Trinity Forest Golf Club, the former PGA Tour home of the AT&T Byron Nelson.
Sophomore Evan Rogers captured medalist honors behind a final round 63. The 9 under card pushed him to 16 under for the tourney and a 4-stroke victory after starting the day five shots off the pace. Rogers was 1 over through four before five consecutive bridies to make the turn at 4 under.
Three birdies and an eagle were surrounded by four pars to complete the 9-under day. It's Rogers second win of the year and third of his career in just 16 starts. His 63 was supported by Griffin Law and Thad Whitfield with 68s and Camden Braidech at 69. Ward Harris had an even-par 72.
Rogers tied his career-low total of 200. Law set a new mark with his 9-under 207. He earned his first career top 5 finishing fifth.
ETSU got the team win with 32-under 832. USC was second at 835, just ahead of Chattanooga's 839.

"Last night at our team meeting, I told the guys that it felt like we were so close to having a good TEAM round where all 5 guys are playing to the level that they can play. From the start today, the guys had a confident freedom about them and really just fed off each other. I had no idea what we shot until we were done. We're just so happy for these guys to see what we are capable of as a group. 20 under is insane." – Coach Blaine Woodruff
"Really happy for Evan. Two years ago, I watched him bogey 18 to miss match play in the U.S. Junior by one. This was a redemptive week of sorts, and he did it in style. We're really proud of him." – Woodruff

Notes
- 3rd collegiate win for Rogers. Just the fourth Moc with three or more: 4-Jonathan Hodge '09, 4-Stephan Jaeger '12 & 3-Bryce Ledford '07.
- Rogers authored the sixth round of 9 under or better. His 63 tied for 4th-best total. One behind the record of 62 first set by Fredrik Qvicker '10 in 2008 and matched by Paul Conroy '24 in 2022 and John Houk '24 in 2023.
- Rogers 16 under is third lowest all-time vs par and ties his own 200 for fourth-best total.
- It's the third time Rogers shot 12 under or better. That's the 10th time by a Moc, but Rogers is the only one to do it multiple times.
- 1st time with all five turning in par or better rounds since the opening round of the win at the Racer Intercollegiate (April 6, 2026).
- 1st time with four cards in the 60s since March 11, 2025, an 18-under 270 in the final round of the runaway win at the Donald Ross Collegiate: 67-Braidech, 67-Dalton Chuba, 67-Braedon Wear, 69-Garrett Engle.
- Season-high 26 birdies in the round to go with an eagle. The counting cards had just eight bogeys. Fifty-nine birdies over the 54 holes.
- 8 under on the front 9, 12 under on the back.
- 12 under on the par 5s, 8 on the par 4s and E on the par 3s.
