Women’s Tennis Defeats NAIA-Power Tennessee Wesleyan, Extends Win Streak to Eight

The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team upped its win streak to eight matches to tie its longest such streak since 2023.

CHATTANOOGA (March 13, 2026) — For the eighth-straight match, the Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team came out victorious following a tightly-played 5-2 victory over NAIA-power Tennessee Wesleyan on a sunny Friday afternoon outdoors at the UTC Tennis Center on campus.
 
"The team fought extremely hard today," said head coach Chad Camper following the match. "Tennessee Wesleyan is a great program that's ranked high nationally. The program improved today."

  • Chattanooga improves to 10-1 on the season after the victory... Tennessee Wesleyan moves to 10-2… TWU entered the contest ranked No. 6 in the latest ITA NAIA National Rankings.
  • The victory marked Chattanooga's eighth-straight win... the 10-1 start is the best start to a single season since an 11-1 start in 2023.
  • Chattanooga's eight-match win streak matches its longest since eight-straight during the same 2023 season.

Match Recap
In doubles, UTC's Rufaro Magarira and Savannah Presson earned a decisive 6-2 win over Olivia Alcala and Ana Serrano on court No. 1 before TWU's Ruslana Kovalenko and Ivet Prat responded with a 6-3 win at No. 2. Margaret Manolache and Emma Pedretti clinched the team point with a 6-4 victory against Laia Berne and Honoka Tsuji at No. 3.
 
In singles, the Mocs extended their lead in the match with a win at No. 1 as Magarira defeated Kovalenko 6-1, 6-3. Presson added another point at No. 2, overcoming Alcala 6-3, 6-2, to make it 3-0 before Tennessee Wesleyan responded with a win at No. 6 as Serrano defeated Ella Mancuso in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
 
Prat added another point for Tennessee Wesleyan at No. 4 singles, defeating Zara Burns 6-4, 0-6, 6-2, to cut the deficit to 3-2. Pedretti clinched the match for UTC on court No. 3 after battling to a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Berne. Fenton closed out the match with a comeback win at No. 5, defeating Tsuji 1-6, 7-5, 6-1, in the final tilt of the day.
