Sandy Mocs Head to Martin for OVC Tournament

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Chattanooga Beach Volleyball team starts its postseason journey tomorrow afternoon in the OVC Tournament at UT Martin. The Sandy Mocs are going for their third consecutive OVC Tournament Championship.

After going a perfect 10-0 in conference play, and winning the OVC Regular Season Championship, UTC is the No. 1 seed in the six-team tournament that is in a double-elimination format. In their first game of the weekend, the Sandy Mocs will play the winner of the Morehead State and Eastern Illinois match. ESPN+ is broadcasting each match and live stats are available as well. Thursday, April 23
Match 1 - #4 Morehead State vs. #5 Eastern Illinois – 11:00 a.m.
Match 2 - #3 UT Martin vs. #6 Tennessee Tech – 1:00 p.m.
Match 3 - #1 Chattanooga vs Match 1 winner – 3:00 p.m.
Match 4 - #2 Lindenwood vs. Match 2 winner – 5:00 p.m.
 
Friday, April 24
Match 5 – Match 2 loser vs. Match 3 loser – 11:00 a.m.
Match 6 – Match 1 loser vs. Match 4 loser – 1:00 p.m.
Match 7 – Match 3 winner vs Match 4 winner – 3:00 p.m.
Match 8  - Match 5 winner vs. Match 6 winner – 5:00 p.m.
 
Saturday, April 25
Match 9 – Match 7 loser vs. Match 8 winner – 10:00 a.m.
Match 10 – Match 7 winner vs. Match 9 winner – 1:00 p.m. (Winner Take All Championship Match)

Chattanooga's easiest path to the Championship is to win both of its first two matches. If the Sandy Mocs were to lose one, their path becomes more challenging. 

Sandy Mocs History in the OVC Tournament
Chattanooga holds a 9-6 all-time record in the OVC Tournament. The Sandy Mocs are the back-to-back defending OVC Tournament Champions, which includes winning the trophy last year at the UTC Sports Complex. In each of the last two tournaments, Chattanooga has gone 3-0 to take home the title. 

Scouting Chattanooga
Chattanooga enters the postseason with a 21-4 record and a 10-0 mark in league play, where it outscored OVC opponents 42-3. All 10 Chattanooga starters were named All-OVC, led by McKenna Faychak, who was named Player of the Year, while her alongside Maddie Lecik, were named Pair of the Year. The Sandy Mocs have three pairs who went undefeated in conference play. This list includes Julia Lawrence and Corina Vale (No. 2), Ashli McKenny and Taylor Clark (No. 4), and Madeline McCabe and Ava Goryl (No. 5).
