Mocs Earn Eight Wins at the Baras

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team posted an 8-4 record on the first day of play at the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic at the Champions Club. Sophomore Sydney Patton led the way with two singles wins.
Patton opened with a (6-1, 6-4) victory against Mercer's Haley Powell in the morning. She came back in the afternoon for a (6-0, 6-1) win against Jacksonville State's Diana Mirceta.
Patton then teamed with classmate Delaney Edwards for a (6-3) doubles win over JSU's Claudia Marsala and Malin Buechner.
The Mocs also got wins from senior Rachele Gazzola, junior Samantha Caswell and sophomore Carolina Hall. Caswell won in three sets, while the rest were straight-set victories.
Chattanooga was 3-1 in doubles, including the Patton & Edwards match. Caswell and Gazzola teamed for a (6-1) victory against Jacksonville State, while Hall and Barco also scored a win.
