The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team scored wins in both the Main Draw singles and doubles at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals today.  The Mocs won two singles and two doubles at the event hosted by Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro. 

Freshman Bogdana Zaporozhets had the win of the day with a three-set victory against Louisville's Maya Smith (6-3, 2-6, 7-5).  Junior Tamri Chalaganidze also won in the main draw.  She defeated Northern Kentucky's Margita Sunjic in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 6-2). 

Chalaganidze teamed with freshman Emma Van Hee for an 8-6 win over MTSU's Lidia Burrows and Constanza Magazzini.  Zaporozhets and junior Delaney Edwards also beat a host squad with an 8-7 win over the Blue Raiders Luisa Zirilli and Marta Peris. 

Sophomore Tarwater teamed up with Purdue's Zala Dovnik in the B Doubles Draw.  They beat a Belmont tandem of Terra Sheldon and Maria Plaksina 8-6 to advance to the semifinals. 

"It was a very productive first day against some of the best teams and best players in the country," stated UTC head coach Chad Camper.  "Being able to hang with some of them and getting a couple of wins is always good.  It is a whole different level here.  It is good for the freshmen and the older ones to see that and aspire to get to that level.
