CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team fell 6-2 to Northern Kentucky in the final game of the Holy City Showdown in Charleston, S.C., on Sunday morning.
The loss drops the Mocs to 7-17 on the season. They'll pack up and spend spring break in Clearwater, Fla., to participate in the USF Under Armour Spring Break Invitational next weekend beginning on March 17.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when the designated home team, NKU, plated five runs on four hits and one Chattanooga error. Two of the five runs were unearned as the other three came via a bases-clearing double to right-center.
The Norse held the 5-0 lead until the bottom of the fifth when they scored a run on an RBI double to left center and to extend the lead to 6-0.
The Mocs only offensive threat of the game came in the final frame as
Jesslyn Stockard smoked an RBI double to the gap in left and
Katy Richardson followed that up with an RBI single up the middle to cut into the deficit making it 6-2. That score would hold up as the final.
Alex Connell (1-6) suffered the loss for Chattanooga as she went 2.2 innings, allowed six hits and four runs (three earned).
Maddy Adams and
Payten Price pitched in relief as Adams went 1.1 innings, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out a batter. Price tossed 2.0 innings of hit-less and score-less ball and registered three strikeouts.
Aly Walker recorded her fifth two-hit game of the season going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Hayleigh Weissenbach led the game off with a lead-off single on the first pitch and went 1-for-3 as
J.J. Hamill added 1-for-2 performance in the second slot in the lineup. Stockard and Richardson both went 1-for-3 to round out the six hits for UTC in the loss.
