The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team won four of six singles and five of six doubles matches on the first day of the Georgia Southern Invitational in Statesboro, Ga. 

Juniors Caroline Hall and Tamri Chalaganidze, sophomore Annie Tarwater and freshman Bogdana Zaporozhets won all of their singles and doubles matches today.  Hall and Chalaganidze posted victories in the Blue singles bracket, while Tarwater and Zaporozhets won in the White draw. 

"It was a great first day for the team," stated head coach Chad Camper.  "Tamri got a couple of wins in singles and doubles and it really helped start her career at Chattanooga.  Annie Tarwater came up with some good wins as her partner in doubles and a good win in singles." 

Hall and Zaporozhets won a tough 7-6 match against Troy's Maria Casas Blas and Matea Mihajevic and then defeated Georgia Southern's Arianne de Winter and Ella Monsey to advance to the semifinals.  The Mocs have two of the four teams in the doubles semis, with Chalagandize and Tarwater also winning twice. 

"Caroline and Bogdana are playing some great tennis.  The doubles are looking great.  I think we will be challenged a little more tomorrow.  It was an unusually hot today, so I was interested see how we would handle it and I thought we did really well."
