Mocs Defeat Belmont 5-2

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team scored a 5-2 win over Belmont at McCallie's Strang-Voges Tennis Center tonight. The win puts the Mocs at 3-0 on the year, while the Bruins record was evened at 2-2.
Chattanooga took a hotly contested doubles point, beginning with sophomore Lilly Holmes and freshman Callie Billman scoring a 6-1 win at No. 3. Belmont evened it up at No. 1, but junior Bogdana Zaporozhets and freshman Jessie Young won at No. 2 in a tiebreaker.
Zaporozhets and Young improved to 3-0 in the spring at No. 2 doubles with tonight's win.
The Mocs kept the pressure on with straight-sets wins in singles from Holmes and junior Emma Van Hee. Holmes took the win at 5, followed by Van Hee at No. 2. Both improved to 3-0 in singles play.
Leading 3-1, Jessie Young clinched the dual with a three-set win at No. 1. The Mocs final points came after Billman won in a tiebreaker at No. 6. She also moved to 3-0 in singles.
