Mocs Drop 4-3 Match at North Alabama

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match at North Alabama today. The loss moves the Mocs to 7-2 overall, while the Lions improved to 3-7.
The Mocs swept all three doubles matches for just the second time this season. Junior Emma Van Hee and sophomore Caroline Gibbens opened with a 6-1 win over Megan Humpherys and Ida Hasselbach at No. 2.
Junior Bodgana Zaporozhets and freshman Jessie Young were next off with a 6-4 win over Sydney Flesch and Kalais Going at No. 2. With the point clinched, sophomore Lilly Holmes and Callie Billman posted a 7-5 win over Nine Linke and Lee-Taylor Bishop at No. 3.
Van Hee was first off in singles at No. 2. She gave the Mocs a 2-0 lead with her 11th singles win in a row, defeating Flesch in straight sets (6-4, 6-1). Van Hee is now 9-0 in the spring at No. 2.
The Lions closed the gap with a win at No. 4, but Holmes put the Mocs back up 3-1 with a win over Nicole Reilly at No. 6 (6-3, 6-4). The last three single were three-set battles that went UNA's way.
Up next for the Mocs is a trip to Kennesaw State on Sunday, March 7. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) in Kennesaw, Ga. A link for live scoring is available on the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
