Volleyball Sweeps The Citadel, Ties Longest SoCon Win Streak Since 2006

The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team earned its fifth-straight win with a clean sweep in Charleston to match its longest SoCon regular season win streak since 2006.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (October 18, 2025) — The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team extended its winning streak to five matches with a clean 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-16) sweep over The Citadel during Southern Conference action on Saturday evening inside McAlister Fieldhouse in Charleston, S.C.
 
Following the win, Chattanooga (12-8, 6-2 SoCon) snapped a four-match skid to The Citadel (0-18, 0-8 SoCon) and picked up its first win in Charleston since November 2022. The Mocs finished the first half of SoCon play with a 6-2 record, marking its best first-half start since a 7-1 mark during the 2015 regular season title campaign. (more notes below)

Set 1 – Chattanooga 25, The Citadel 20 (1-0)
- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and The Citadel traded points early, with Sydney Jackwin contributing kills to keep Chattanooga competitive at 3-3. 
- The Citadel capitalized on multiple attack errors from the Mocs, pulling ahead 14-9 midway through the set. 
- UTC responded with a 7-1 run, highlighted by Kendyl MacAskill's two kills, tying the score at 17-17. 
- Jackwin's consistent offense helped Chattanooga close the set with a 25-20 victory, scoring the final kill. 
 
Set 2 – Chattanooga 25, The Citadel 19 (2-0)
- The Mocs opened with a strong 4-0 run, including kills by MacAskill and Jackwin, facilitated by Ashley Reynolds
- The Citadel narrowed the gap to 5-4 with kills from Luci Lippelgoos and Rachel Reininger. 
- Chattanooga extended their lead with consecutive points from a Jackwin kill and a service ace. 
- Mallory Merz contributed two service aces late in the set, helping the Mocs secure a 25-19 win. 
 
Set 3 – Chattanooga 25, The Citadel 16 (3-0)
- UTC capitalized on a service error to start the set, followed by a service ace from Elena Vukmanov to lead 2-0. 
- Kynli Kirkendoll contributed back-to-back kills, extending the Mocs' advantage to 8-4. 
- Vukmanov delivered two service aces in quick succession, pushing the visitor's lead to 15-10. 
- Jazeli Vandenburgh's service ace and a final attack error from The Citadel sealed the set for Chattanooga at 25-16.

Chattanooga returns home to open the second half of SoCon play with a Wednesday night matchup against Mercer (previously rescheduled) before hosting in-state rival ETSU on Thursday night.
