Volleyball Scheduled for Three Matches at Noona Kennard Invitational

The Mocs travel to North Alabama for its first road and neutral-site matches of the year
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Volleyball continues the non-conference portion of its schedule this weekend at the Noona Kennard Invitational at North Alabama. It'll be Chattanooga's first road and neutral-site matches of the season. The Mocs are scheduled to play UT Martin, North Alabama, and Jackson State.
Chattanooga's full schedule of games with links are copied below. Only UTC's match against North Alabama will be streamed. All matches will have live stats available to follow along with.

Series History Notes
The Mocs hold losing records against UT Martin (3-15) and North Alabama (3-4). However, UTC has won three in a row against North Alabama and won its last meeting against North Alabama, which was a four-set victory last year. Chattanooga is 6-1 all-time against Jackson State. It will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2017 when UTC swept JSU.

Looking Back at Opening Weekend
The Mocs began the 2026 season hosting the Chattanooga Classic where it went 1-2 for the weekend. UTC started off with a 3-0 sweep of Tennessee State before falling in four sets to both Valparaiso and UAB.
Chattanooga hit .201 as a team across three matches with 130 kills (11.82 per set) tallied. Defensively, UTC totaled 166 digs, good enough for a mark of 15.1 digs per set. The Mocs also had 17 blocks for the weekend. Chattanooga currently ranks inside the top five of the SoCon in all of these statistical categories.
Some notable individual performances, include Ashley Reynolds' double-double of 26 assists and 10 digs against UAB, Jordin Glass' 16 kills with a .682 hitting percentage against Tennessee State, and Caiti Barthel's 28 digs versus Valparaiso.
As a result of strong performances across the weekend, Glass was named to the Chattanooga Classic All-Tournament Team while Caiti Barthel won the SoCon's Defensive Player of the Week award.
About UT Martin
The Skyhawks were at Austin Peay last weekend for the Stacheville Challenge where it went 0-3 with losses to Austin Peay (0-3), Kansas City (2-3), and Jackson State (1-3). UTM's top attacker so far has been Chlyer Martin, who is averaging 2.92 kills per set at outside hitter. She hit .200 for the weekend, however the Skyhawks are hitting just .153 as a team. Dylan Sulccer tallied 36 digs to start the year to lead the UTM defense.
About North Alabama
The Lions are off to a fast start this season, winning their first four matches without dropping a set. At the Troy Invitational, UNA defeated Alabama State, Troy, and Mercer. Last night in their home opener, the Lions defeated Alabama A&M. Setter Kinslee McGowan, who averages 11.25 assists per set, and defensive specialist/libero Ava Martindale, who averages 5.58 digs per set, were recognized as the UAC's Setter of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week. On the attack, UNA is hitting at a mark of .267, led by Reese Ricketts (3.75 kills per set) and Dylann Garner (3.50 kills per set).
About Jackson State
Also, competing in the Stacheville Challenge, JSU comes to Florence with a 2-1 record with a five-set win over Austin Peay and a four-set victory against UT Martin. The Tigers' only loss came in straight sets against Kansas City in the first match of the season. Hope Briggs, a right side hitter for JSU, leads the attack, totaling 40 kills (3.33 per set) so far this season. Defensive specialist Giannelle Asomani anchors the defense with 53 digs (4.42 per set) to her name after one weekend of play. As a team, JSU has proven it is has a strong serve, averaging 2.2 service aces per set, more than any other team at the Noona Kennard Invitational.
