Soccer Hosts Belmont in Non-Conference Finale Sunday

The Mocs welcome alumni from the past 30 seasons to Finley Stadium on Sunday.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team returns to Finley Stadium Sunday afternoon to host Belmont in the final non-conference match of the season. The Mocs welcome home several members of squads from over the last 30 seasons.

CHATTANOOGA vs. BELMONT
The Bruins hold a 6-1-1 advantage over the Mocs. Belmont won the first six meetings before Chattanooga earned a 3-1 win in 2023 at home and a 2-2 tie last season in Nashville.
 
LAST TIME THEY MET
Ella Attaway split the Belmont defense to score her first collegiate goal Sunday night in a 1-1 draw with the Bruins to close out the Mocs non-conference schedule. Attaway entered the penalty area and split the defenders near the top of the box, sending her shot just out of reach of the Belmont keeper high and to the right to tie the match 1-1 in the 72nd minute. Chattanooga edged the Bruins on shots 10-9 and had a 5-4 shots on goal advantage. Caroline Richvalsky had three shots to lead the Mocs with two on goal. Abbey Marak and Clarissa Salinas each had two shots with one on goal. Caroline Ekern played all 90 minutes in the net and had three saves.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (5-2-1)
The Mocs' five-game unbeaten streak was snapped with a 2-0 loss at Xavier in their last outing. In the streak, UTC shutout Morehead State, Austin Peay and North Alabama, beat Indiana State 5-3 and drew 2-2 at Tennessee Tech. Paige Thomas leads the Mocs with five goals and one assist while Caroline Richvalsky is second on the team in scoring with four goals and two assists. Caroline Ekern moved into first place all-time at UTC for career shutouts with 18 over her career and is two wins shy of the program mark of 30 held by Stacey Matthiessen ('07).
 
ABOUT BELMONT (2-1-4)
The Bruins picked up wins over Southeast Missouri and Coastal Carolina after opening the season with a loss to MTSU. The last four matches have ended in draws, three scoreless, with the last against SoCon foe Samford. Belmont has scored four goals on the year with two from Kaitlyn Elliott, both game winners. Sydney Jones has five starts in goal for the Bruins with a .952 saves percentage and one goal against. Greta Genie has made a pair of starts with two goals against.
