BIRMINGHAM, ALA. (April 11, 2026) — The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team ended the regular season with a crucial 4-3 victory on the road at Southern Conference opponent Samford on Saturday afternoon at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Complex in Birmingham, Ala.

• Chattanooga concludes the regular season 16-4 overall and 5-2 in SoCon play... Samford ends 11-10 overall and 3-4 in conference action.
• Chattanooga's 16 wins this season are the most since winning 18 matches during the 2016 season... the 5-2 SoCon record also marks the best since a similar 5-2 record during the 2016 campaign.

At No. 1 doubles, Savannah Presson and Rufaro Magarira secured a 7-5 victory over Lea Erenda and Sara Erenda to kick things off and provide an early spark. However, Samford clinched the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3, where Hailey Troup and Eleni Liakonis defeated Jordan Fenton and Addison Iacono 6-0 (No. 2) before Laila Fishman and Cathy Cardona-Carbal bested Emma Pedretti and Ella Mancuso 6-4 (No. 3).

In singles play, Chattanooga quickly leveled the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 as Iacono defeated Erenda (#1, 6-4, 6-3) and Magarira with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Erenda (#2). Samford responded as Fishman won 6-1, 6-2 over Presson at No. 3 and Cardona-Carbal outlasted Fenton 6-2, 7-5 at No. 5 to put the Bulldogs ahead 3-2.

Pedretti provided a crucial point for the Mocs with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Liakonis at No. 4  to tie the match 3-3 before Zara Burns won 6-3, 6-0 on court No. 6 over Troup to clinch the victory for Chattanooga.
