Running Mocs on the Road at Southern Showcase

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga men's and women's cross country teams are on the road Friday morning at the Southern Showcase hosted by Jacksonville State at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala.

The men's 8-kilometer race begins at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time followed by the women's 5K at 9:10 a.m. The Mocs will compete against multiple SEC and ACC opponents, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Mississippi State, along with some familiar foes in Delaware, North Alabama, Samford, South Alabama and West Georgia. In all, there will be 64 schools across 16 states participating in the meet.

The men will have nine competitors including Jack Martin, who missed the opening meet due to injury, Derek Mitchell, Andrew Moore and Ian Etheridge. The women's race will include Leila Hailey, Ashley Torr, Scarlett Nash and Bella King.

Chattanooga will have the chance to get an early look at Southern Conference schools Mercer, Samford, Tennessee Tech and Western Carolina in both races.
