MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Chattanooga Mocs scored twice in a span of 3:32 midway through the second half and held off Morehead State for a 2-1 road victory Sunday afternoon at MSU Soccer Field.

Chattanooga, on a four-game unbeaten streak that includes three wins, improved to 4-1-2 on the season. Morehead State fell to 4-4-0.

"We started slowly, but settled into the game well and took control," Mocs head coach Gavin McKinney said. "WE created some high-quality chances and defended well when we needed to. Against a good opponent, it's a well-earned win on the road."

After a scoreless first half, the Mocs broke through in the 59th minute when Quinn Johnson converted a penalty kick at 58:09 to give Chattanooga a 1-0 lead. The goal was Johnson's fourth of the season.

Morehead State answered quickly. Just 3:17 later, the Eagles finished a chance to even the score at 1-1 in the 62nd minute.

The tie lasted only 15 seconds.

Off the ensuing restart, Chattanooga went back on top as Emma Reeves found the net at 61:41 on an assist from Johnson. EG Dillard fed Johnson down the left side. Johnson made her way into the box at the end line. Her cross into the six-yard box found Reeves in front of the net for the put in and her third score of the season. That proved to be the game-winner and restored a 2-1 advantage the Mocs would not relinquish.

Chattanooga controlled much of the match, outshooting the Eagles 21-9 and holding a 6-1 edge in shots on goal. The Mocs also earned four corner kicks while limiting Morehead State to four.

Johnson led the attack with five shots, two on target, a goal and an assist. Reeves added the decisive goal, while Paige Thomas recorded a team-high three shots on goal.

In goal, freshman Addie Taylor, in her first appearance for Chattanooga, played all 90 minutes and allowed one goal for her first collegiate win.

The Mocs remain on the road with a matchup at North Alabama on Thursday, September 10. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m. Eastern time.
