Birnbaum Posts Consolation Win at ITA Regionals

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's team has one competitor still alive and the ITA Ohio Valley Regional presented by Oracle in Knoxville, Tenn. Junior Michael Birnbaum won his consolation match to advance to Saturday's action.
Birnbaum defeated MTSU's Ayed Zatar (7-5, 6-2) in straight sets today. Zatar was the No. 29 seed heading into the tournament.
"It was a heck of a win," stated UTC head coach Michael Birnbaum. "He had a great game plan and was able to close it out against one of the top players in the region."
He faces Vanderbilt's Tate Allwardt in the consos at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
