CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's track and field team along with members of the men's cross country team, will head to Bowling Green, Ky., for the Western Kentucky Relays this weekend.
Â
"We're hoping for good weather this weekend," Chattanooga head coach Bill Gautier said. "Maddison [Melchionna] would like another shot at improving her time [in the 800m] to get to the region."
Â
Melchionna, along with Hannah Chamblin, is entered in the 800 meter but will also take a shot at the 1500 meter run. Anna Kate Chance and Keeley Stewart are also entered in the 1500m and freshman Haley Morris will get her first shot at the full 3000 meter Steeplechase.
Â
"She ran the 2000m steeple in her last race," Gautier said. "She has taken pretty well to that for a freshman."
Â
Paul Stuart, Mark Britt, John Payne and Brennan Huber will run the 1500 meter Saturday. Payne and Huber will also run the 800 meter.
Â
There will be more than 700 athletes competing at the two-day event that begins Friday. Running events will begin midday on Saturday with field events on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
Â
Results will be available at GoMocs.com following the race.
