CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga outdoor track and field team will head to the Lee University Flames Invitational this weekend with competition beginning Friday afternoon and concluding Saturday.
Â
"This week's meet will be a very hard test for our kids as the competition will be as good as we see all season," Mocs head coach Andy Meyer said. "Seventy-plus teams from across the country will be at Lee this weekend."
Â
Competition for the Mocs begins mid-afternoon Friday with Imani Bryant and Carley Burt in the women's 200 meter Dash. Gracie Morse will have her first shot at the 400 meter Hurdles followed by the men's and women's 1500 meter runs.
Â
The women's race will feature Faith Brown, Emma Russum and Morgan Ouellette while the men will place four in their race. Kaigen Mulkey holds the Mocs' best time at the mid-distance followed by Eammon O'Bryant and Aaron Isbell. It will be Eric Mitchell's first shot at the 1500m distance.
Â
Ryan Phillips will run the men's 5000 meter with Justine Glass, Ashtyn Hagood and Allie Potter competing for the women.
Â
Friday's event will conclude with Jonathan Boyd and Jasper Wilson in men's 10K and Lesley Green in the women's.
Â
"Most all the events have minimal time standards to even get in the race, so getting into our respective races ensures us of outstanding competition," Meyer said. "Some of the kids will be moving up to the 10K for the first time this season, so that will be a new challenge for them. A few of the kids will be moving up in their respective distances in prep for the conference meet."
Â
The women's 4x100 meter relay will get the action started on Saturday for the Mocs and Kimbra Dunning will try to beat out her best distance in the long jump. Morse will once again run the hurdles, this time the 100 meters.
Â
O'Bryant and Mulkey will run the 800 meter for the first time while Emmy Davis takes her first shot at the middle distance race for the first time this season.
Â
Bryant, Dunning, Sage Davis and McKenzie Williamson will all run the 100 meter Dash and the meet will conclude with the women's 4x400 meter relay.
Â
"We are blessed to have this much competition in what is basically a home meet for our kids," Meyer concluded.
Â
Live results will be available on the cross country/track and field schedule on GoMocs.com.
