About Chattanooga
The Mocs are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Highlander Invitational. The weekend ended with a bang as Chattanooga reverse swept Norfolk State. Elena Vukmanov had a strong weekend for the Blue and Gold earning All-Tournament Team recognition. She had a career-high 15 kills against Bellarmine and a double-double vs. Norfolk State. The other four wins that Chattanooga picked up in non-conference play were against Tennessee State, UT Martin, Jackson State, and Presbyterian. The Mocs are playing their first home match in 26 days after spending the last three weekends on the road.Â
As a team, Chattanooga is averaging 11.67 kills, 10.82 assists, and 14.4 digs per set. The Mocs' hitting percentage is .198. A key benchmark for UTC this year has been a .200 hitting percentage as it is 5-0 in matches where it hits .200 or higher. At the net, Chattanooga averages 2.04 total blocks per set, which ranks third in the SoCon.Â
Jordin Glass is the lone Moc in triple digits in kills this season with 105 while Kynli Kirkendoll and Gracie Rose are right behind her with 98 kills and 95 kills respectively. Vukmanov leads the Mocs in kills per set at 2.36 while Addison Walker at 2.34 kills per set and Glass at 2.33 kills per are near the top as well. Ashley Reynolds has pushed her assists tally this season to 305 while averaging 6.78 per set. She is 32 assists away from reaching 1,000 for her career. Mallory Merz has also contributed at the setter position this season with two matches of at least 22 assists.Â
Defensively, Chattanooga is led by Caiti Barthel who has accumualted 196 digs, averaging 4.36 per set which ranks second in the SoCon. At the net the Middle Blocker trio of Kirkendoll, Glass, and Bailey Burgess have made impacts defensively. Burgess leads the team at 1.12 blocks per set, and most recently had seven total blocks against Norfolk State. Kirkendoll with 42 and Glass with 34 have the most blocks this season for UTC.Â
About Wofford
Wofford's last outing came on Tuesday night, as it defeated Gardner-Webb in five sets on the road. In the Terriers' previous two matches it fell in five sets to Wake Forest and were swept at High Point. Wofford's most notable win this year came on Sept. 13 at home against the ACC's Clemson, defeating the Tigers in four sets. The other non-conference wins that the Terriers earned this year were against Winthrop, Davidson, Presbyterian, Charlotte, and George Washington.Â
Wofford is leading the SoCon in kills at 637, kills per set at 13.27, assists at 593, and assists per set at 12.35. Another offensive statistic that the Terriers top the SoCon in is hitting percentage at .242. They have hit under .200 this season in just three of their 12 matches so far. Looking at how Wofford is defensively, there is no dropoff as it leads the league in digs per set at 15.92. At the net, the Terriers average 1.81 total blocks per set.Â
Chloe Smith is the No. 1 attacker for Wofford, totaling 170 kills, ranking third in the SoCon, and averaging 3.54 kills per set. She is also a strong server with 24 service aces so far this season, which leads the SoCon. Natalie Arnold at 2.97 kills per set and Bradley Brown at 2.92 kills per set are two more key attackers for the Terriers. Both of Wofford's setters contribute as Taylor Pecht leads the team with 274 assists and 5.71 assists per set while Maddy Frazler is right behind her with 237 assists and 4.94 assists per set.Â
Wofford has statistically one of the top liberos in the country in Laney Klika, as she ranks third in NCAA Division-I total digs with 267. She is fifth in digs per set at 5.56 and has won SoCon Defensive Player of the Week each of the last three weeks. Brown is Wofford's leading blocker with 42 total blocks on the season, which averages to 0.88 per set.Â
