Mocs Host USC Upstate, Travel to Jacksonville State This Week

UTC welcomes the Spartans to the Champions Club on Tuesday.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team has two matches on the schedule this week. The Mocs host USC Upstate on Tuesday, March 8, at the Champions Club and travel to Jacksonville State on Saturday, March 12.
First serve against the Spartans is tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.). Upstate has a 2-8 overall record, while the Mocs are trying to improve on their 4-7 mark. UTC dropped a 4-0 match on the road last year in the only other meeting in the series.
The Mocs and Gamecocks square off at the JSU Tennis Courts in Jacksonville, Ala., on Saturday, March 12, at 2:00 p.m. Jacksonville State is 4-9 overall, but had a 4-3 win at UTC last year. Chattanooga holds a 21-7 lead in the series. These two teams have met in non-conference action in 19 of the last 20 seasons.
The Mocs are currently 4-7 overall. Senior Nick Wingord and junior Lucas Plesky are both 6-4 in singles play. Sophomore Michael Birnbaum and freshman Paul LaHue scored win in doubles last week and are 2-0 as a tandem.
