Mocs Host UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic

Action is set to broadcast on ESPN+ all three days.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team hosts the 37th annual UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic at the UTC Tennis Center this weekend. Chattanooga welcomes Troy to the three-day event on Oct. 16-18.
First serve each day is set for 10:00 a.m. (E.D.T.), starting with five doubles matches. Ten singles will follow, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Spectators will not be allowed at the UTC Tennis Center, but a link for live scoring is on the men's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
Action from Courts 1-3 will be shown on ESPN+. Court 1 is the focus in doubles and singles each day with live sound and no announcers. Updates from other matches will be displayed during the changeovers. Links for the broadcast each day are also on the men's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
"The UTC Steve Baras Invite will be a bit different this year, like many events in the sports world," stated head coach Chuck Merzbacher. "However, we are still able to host this event with Troy University traveling up for round robin doubles and singles play.
"We had an amazingly close dual match with them last year in a 3-4 loss on the road, so we know the competition will be spirited and strong."
Senior Turner Voges and sophomore Tomas Rodriguez both had wins in singles action in last year's dual with the Trojans on Feb. 28 in Troy, Ala. Rodriguez leads the Mocs with a 4-2 record in singles this fall. Voges went 2-1 in singles last weekend at MTSU.
"This has been a very productive fall for the team, coming in off the shutdown, I like the way we are progressing physically and mentally. The team is looking forward to some home play at UTC."
