Press Conference Tuesday Ahead Saturday’s Rail Rivalry Matchup

Quarterback Battle Alberson was joined by safety Jaden Nelson and Coach Rusty Wright as the Chattanooga Mocs held their weekly press conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to Johnson City.
The Chattanooga Mocs football team heads into Southern Conference game week three with another road matchup. It makes it four road tilts in six games to open the season with a visit to ETSU ahead this Saturday.
Chattanooga is 3-2 to start the year, 2-0 in the SoCon, tied with Tennessee Tech atop the league standings at 2-0, a half-game clear of the Bucs and Furman at 1-0. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., at Greene Stadium in Johnson City, broadcasting on ESPN+ as well as over the airwaves on the Mocs Sports Network.

Every Tuesday during game weeks this season, the Mocs hold a press conference with coverage from the Times Free Press, Channels 3, 9 & 12, along with various radio and television talents. This week featured Coach Rusty Wright leading off followed by safety Jaden Nelson and quarterback Battle Alberson.
Nelson, a sophomore, has started the first five games alongside senior Kam Baah-Slay in the back line of the Mocs defense. He returned this season after an injury that cut his 2025 campaign to just three games and won the starting role this summer in preseason camp. Nelson and the defense boast top 10 work against the pass in the FCS.
Alberson has started eight straight games for the Mocs. He has managed the Chattanooga offense well in the 2-0 start to the league slate. The rushing attack has put 551 yards on the board the last two weeks in dominant wins against Wofford (41-7) and at The Citadel (27-8).
